Mast General Store (25 mins)

The Original Mast General Store opened in 1883 in the rural community of Valle Crucis, North Carolina. Storekeepers tried to have everything the community needed… from cradles to caskets. Mast Store offers a variety of goods from fashion to fried chicken cookbooks and toffee to tents.

Todd NC (30 mins)

The town that once roared with logging trains going in and out now has a quiet, rustic charm. Located on the New River, Todd offers some of the area's best opportunities for fishing and paddle sports. It's also a great spot for cycling, thanks to its timber harvesting past. To this day, Railroad Grade Road is as long and flat and scenic a bike ride as you can find.

Todd has many historic buildings including the Todd General Store. Every Friday evening, the store hosts a traditional mountain music jam that attracts people from all over. There's story-telling on Tuesday evening, and book signings on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. Across the street from the store is a town park that hosts many musical shows on its stage.
