Climbing

Boone was named one of the United States' top ten climbing towns stating the NC High Country being "some of the East Coasts best climbing."  Whether you are after multi-pitch ascents of awe-inspiring cliffs, or easy access bouldering (climbing close to the ground, without ropes or harnesses) the Boone area has a range of topnotch climbing experiences.

Schaefer Center for performing Arts

The Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts is a 1,673-seat multi-use auditorium located on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. The Center features orchestra and balcony level seating and a proscenium stage. The Schaefer Center is also home to the Smith Gallery. See what’s coming soon.

Boone Greenway Trail

The Town of Boone's Greenway Trail runs from one end of Boone to the other, ducking under roads, meandering along multiple rivers, crossing several scenic bridges!  This paved trail is less than 4 miles end to end, but allows cyclists a car-free in-town ride or short cut during a commute to work.  There are many pea gravel and light trails that weave through the paved part of the greenway that give off-road cyclists a chance to play.
