LInville Falls (45 mins)

Trails near the Linville Falls Visitor Center lead to the breathtaking three-tiered Linville Falls over the Linville Gorge via both strenuous and moderate hikes. The steep-walled Gorge is known as the “Grand Canyon of the Southern Appalachians.”

Linville Caverns (45 mins)

Located at the southern gateway to western NC's High Country region, Linville Caverns is an ideal destination for visitors of all ages.  The beauty of our mountains is echoed within Humpback Mountain and visitors are invited to explore the splendor and wonders nature created "inside a mountain".

Watauga Lake (1 hr)

Beautiful mountain lake just over the TN border. Rent a pontoon boat from Lakeshore Marina for the day and explore the many natural coves and clean water.

Virginia Creeper Trail (1 hr to Damascus)

The Virginia Creeper National Recreation Trail is a 34.3-mile rail-to-recreation trail, traversing through two counties from Abingdon, Virginia, through Damascus, and ending just past Whitetop Station in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, at the Virginia-North Carolina border.
